(W)hole Foods

I live in West Seattle, and drive by this site about once a week. When you drive by it, there is a sense of loss because there is a huge hole in the ground with no progress, not for 12+ months. Needless to say, it’s put a sour taste in people’s mouth of Whole Foods.

Sometime between 2007 and 2009 Hancock Fabrics was torn down in favor of a joint building of Whole Foods and Hancock Fabrics. There was HUGE anticipation by people wanting Whole Foods in West Seattle. The nearest one is in Interbay, not very far in the grand scheme of things, but to go there for grocery shopping is not entirely feasible. Fast-forward to August 12th, 2010, , there is just a huge hole in the ground and Whole Foods has officially pulled out of the project. No one has any idea what’s going to happen to it at this point.
